Security & privacy
FileFly is built so your files stay yours. Here is exactly how we protect them.
Files go peer-to-peer — never through our servers
FileFly uses WebRTC to connect two devices directly. Your files travel straight between your device and the other device and are never uploaded to or stored on our servers. We run only a small “signaling server” that helps the two devices find each other and set up the connection — it never touches your file contents.
Transfers are encrypted
WebRTC connections are encrypted in transit (DTLS/SRTP), so files are encrypted while moving between devices. The whole site is served over HTTPS.
No account, no personal data
FileFly does not ask you to register or sign in, and does not collect your name or email. To pair devices, the server briefly processes the network address (IP) needed to group devices on the same network; this is used only to establish the connection and is not kept long-term.
What we don’t do
- We don’t store the files you transfer.
- We don’t sell your data.
- We don’t ask for unnecessary permissions.
Tips for staying safe
- Only accept files from people you recognise and trust — this applies to any transfer tool.
- Use FileFly on a network you trust.
We protect you by not storing your files in the first place, rather than by collecting data and claiming to guard it. See also Privacy Policy · About us.
